Frequently Asked Questions

  • JDZ Solar are approved solar system equipment suppliers. The company has been operating in the Lismore and surrounding area for 6 years. Please click here to see reviews from our many satisfied customers.

  • We are a local family-owned firm, employing local people. Always in your area, we are able to provide ongoing support for our clients. Our office is close to the Casino Airport in NSW.

Our professional system designers use leading edge tools to ensure the best possible return on your investment.

  • With rising electricity prices and the cost of solar energy falling, there has never been a better time to consider a solar system. Government rebates and incentive schemes encourage the trend towards 'clean' power.

Your solar quotation from JDZ Solar will provide you with a breakdown of the potential savings your new or upgraded solar system will yield.

  • All solar systems rely on a frame of mounted solar PV panels to generate electricity. Since this power is in the form of direct current (DC), an inverter is required to convert it to usable alternating current (AC).

  • Through our extensive supplier network, we can source any Clean Energy Council Approved Brands. All panels we use carry a minimum of 15 years Manufacturing Warranty and a 25 Year Production Warranty.

Our most requested brands are Trina Solar and Suntech. These panels are 370 half-cut watt mono-crystalline, black framed photo voltaic panels.

  • We mainly use Fronius Inverters and Growatt Inverters. Both carry a 10 year Manufacturing Warranty and include a free online monitoring system.

Growatt is the largest global manufacturer of residential inverters. We have installed hundreds of Growatt inverters which have proven to be extremely reliable and trouble -free.

Fronius are a European manufacturer and have been making power products for over 50 years. The have a excellent reputation for quality and are a dominant brand in the Australian market.

    • Grid-connected with battery backup

    • Stand alone solar system

  • The addition of batteries to your solar system means that any surplus energy generated can be stored rather than selling the electricity back to the grid. This power can then be used at night, or when there is high demand that is not met by the solar system. Batteries also mean that you will be able to have electricity when there is a power outage. Off grid solar systems rely on batteries to supply power at night.

Ask us today about the cost of batteries and power storage.

  • JDZ Solar aims to provide a complete price for the whole job. The quotation price includes:

    • Supply Authority Fees and Approvals

    • All Materials and Labour

    • Manuals and Documentation

    • Government Rebates (see below)

    • Meter Upgrade Paperwork (see below)

  • JDZ Solar assists you by advising you of your eligibility in terms of Government Rebates for solar.

We apply on your behalf, completing all the necessary paperwork to obtain the maximum possible benefit for you. The awarded amount is applied as a direct discount, credited to your system price.

  • If you already have a smart meter, there will be no changes required.

Should you require a meter upgrade, this will be done by your energy retailer at no charge, usually within 2 to 3 weeks of your solar system installation. JDZ Solar complete and submit all the necessary paperwork to your power retailer on your behalf, to ensure a timely upgrade.

  • The greatest benefit from solar power is gained by using the power generated to replace power drawn from the electricity grid. It's important, therefore, to decide what size of system you require to supply this energy and reduce your usage of electricity from the grid.

Call us now for a free, no obligation quotation for your solar system, detailing the number of solar panels you will need.

  • We find a 6.6kW system will produce 10,000 to 11,000 kWh per year.
A 10kW system can produce up to 17,000 kWh per year.

In summer, a 6.6kW system can produce up to 40kWh per day.
A 10kW system will produce up to 60kWh per day.

  • Generally, in the summer months, you will generate more power than you use. Your account from your supplier will run in credit, usually by around $50 to $100 per month.

In winter, when you may use more power than your system generates, you will receive a small bill of $50 to $100 per month.

Most customers find that they will reduce their power bills by more than 85%.

  • A 6.6kW System will save you around $500 per quarter on your power bill.

A 7.7kW System will save you around $600 per quarter on your power bill.

  • Your solar system will generate significant Environmental Benefits. These come primarily from avoided power plant emissions.

  • Once your energy requirements have been met by your solar system, any surplus electricity can be put onto the national electricity grid. The Feed-In Tariff is the rate you are paid by your electricity company for this electricity that has been generated using your solar system and is now being sold back to them.

  • As part of the Essential Energy connection process, JDZ Solar will complete a New Connection Application for Solar on your behalf. Generally, for inverters larger than 5kW, Essential Energy place some restrictions on the amount of power you can export back to the grid for sale. These Export Control Devices will be detailed in your JDZ Solar system quotation.

Our designers ensure your system matches your power needs and maximises your return on investment. This means that we generally only install systems larger than 7kW on Households with bills larger than $600 per quarter. It is also why systems larger than 10kW are mainly used for businesses or commercial applications.

  • Our Growatt Systems pay for themselves in 18 Months to 2 Years. For example, if the system costs $4,000 and you save $2,000 a year on your bills, it will take around 2 years to pay for itself.

Our Fronius Systems pay return your investment in 2 years to 4 years. For example, a system costing $6,500 and saving $2,000 per annum on your bills will take around 3.5 years to pay for itself.

  • Panels are made up of an array of solar cells which produce electricity from sunlight due to the photovoltaic effect on the silicon. The cells are housed in a sealed unit that has a glass front.

  • We will let you know exactly what date and time we will be completing your installation, since you will need to be present.

Our friendly, well trained installers and electricians are fast and always considerate of your privacy and personal spaces.

Installation times vary depending on the size of your system and number of solar PV Panels used, however, we usually install most home solar systems in 1 day.

Call JDZ Solar now with any installation questions.

  • The Clean Energy Council is the peak body for the clean energy industry in Australia.

As a not-for-profit organisation, the Clean Energy Council represents and works with Australia's leading renewable energy and energy storage businesses, as well as rooftop solar installers, to further the development of clean energy in Australia.

They are committed to accelerating the transformation of Australia’s energy system to one that is smarter and cleaner.

The Clean Energy Council provides guides and information for consumers to help in their decision to purchase solar and battery storage systems. See here for information.

  • Solar systems only require minimal maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation. Check your inverter display panel regularly since it will indicate if the system is faulty or running with errors. Dust and debris can build up on the panels, reducing their effectiveness, so it is a good idea to keep them clean. Also, check for any broken or damaged panels.

If you have any questions about system maintenance, please call us at JDZ Solar and we will be happy to assist.
