New Federal Solar Battery Rebates Now Available
From 1 July 2025, a major new Federal initiative – the Cheaper Home Batteries Program – is making solar batteries more affordable than ever.
This $2.3 billion scheme provides around 30% off upfront when you install a home or business battery system.
Discounts are applied directly at installation, with savings of up to $372 per usable kWh (up to 50 kWh).
That means:
10 kWh battery → Save $3,000–$3,700
20 kWh battery → Save $7,440
30 kWh battery → Save $11,160
Who Can Apply?
Homeowners, small businesses, and community organisations across Australia.
Installations must be completed by a CEC-accredited installer (like JDZ Solar).
On-grid systems must be Virtual Power Plant (VPP) ready.
Off-grid systems are also eligible.

A JDZ Solar 6.6kW system can produce up to 40kWh per day in summer, and a 10kW system will produce up to 60kWh per day. In total, a 6.6kW system will produce around 10,000 to 11,000 kWh per year. A 10kW system can produce up to 17,000 kWh per year.

Sunlight on Solar Panels is converted into electricity in the form of direct current. Your home or office requires alternating current, so an Inverter is needed to convert the solar power into usable energy.
This energy can then be used to power your own home or office in preference to paying for electricity drawn from the national grid. This has the immediate benefit of reducing your electricity bills from your supplier.
Sometimes your system will generate excess power that you don't immediately need to use. This can either be sold back to the energy supplier or stored in a battery for future use. If you have an arrangement to sell excess power, your system will simply put it back onto the national electricity grid for you to be credited on your next bill. The rate that you are paid for doing this is called the 'feed-in' or 'solar export' tariff.
Battery storage is becoming more affordable and available, allowing you to have battery packs to store your excess power for use when needed. This leads to further savings when you use this stored power when the sun is not shining.

Since pricing is dependent on system selection, we show you how much you will save on your power bills to ensure a solid return on your investment. A 6.6kW System will save you around $500 per quarter, and a 7.7kW System will save you around $600 per quarter.
Generally, in the summer months, you will generate more power than you use. Your account from your supplier will run in credit, usually by around $50 to $100 per month.
In winter, when you may use more power than your system generates, you will receive a small bill of $50 to $100 per month.
